      • Can I make international calls with my Shaw Home Phone?
        Yes. You will be charged for international phone calls on a per-minute or included basis, depending on the Shaw Home Phone plan to which you subscribe.
      • Can I use a calling card or prepaid calling card for long-distance calls?
        Yes, you can use calling cards with Shaw Home Phone and Shaw Home Phone Lite. Calls made using another company’s calling card are billed to you by that service provider.
      • Are mobile/cellular phone numbers and outlying territories included in the Shaw international destinations?
        Many mobile/cellular phone numbers and outlying territories are included, unless otherwise specified on the rate tool above. Please be sure to consult the rate tool before dialing to ensure which dialing prefixes are included.
      • Can I check the balance of my free international calling on my Home Phone plan?
        Yes, you can call Shaw Customer Care in your area for your balance of international minutes. Please note it takes one to two days for international calling use to be recorded in your account. If you require a more detailed review of your international calling, please contact Home Phone Technical Support in your area.
      • What happens if I exceed my 1000 minutes of included international calling minutes on my Home Phone plan?
        Calls that exceed your allotted 1000 minutes will be billed at the low rate of $0.04 per minute. Use our rate tool above to find rates to calling destinations not included in the international calling plan.
      • Will international calling details be listed on my bill?
        Any international phone calls included in the Home Phone plan’s 1000 allotted minutes will not be detailed on your bill. Any calls that exceed the 1,000 minutes will be detailed on your bill. If you are a Shaw Home Phone Lite customer, calls will be detailed on your bill at the $0.04-per-minute rate.
      • Can I accept collect calls?
        Yes, you can accept collect calls in the usual way. As an alternative to traditional collect-call services, Shaw also provides a Prepaid Calling Plan.
      • When should I use Shaw’s Prepaid Calling?
        Shaw’s Prepaid Calling plan offers a convenient and affordable way to call long distance even when you’re not using your Shaw Home Phone. Use it when you’re travelling or making long-distance calls from your cell phone and get Shaw Home Phone’s great long-distance rates.
      • How does Prepaid Calling work?

        Shaw’s Prepaid Calling allows you to prepay as much or as little as you want. You can use it from almost any phone anywhere in the world.

        Follow these step-by-step directions to get Prepaid Calling activated:

        1. Set up your account through the Prepaid Calling website 
        2. You are given a local number to call. Program this into your phone for added convenience.
        3. Call the local number and you will hear another dial tone.
        4. Dial your destination number. If it’s an international call, dial 011, then the country code, area code and phone number.
        5. Start talking when someone picks up on the other end.
      • What are Prepaid Calling rates?
        Rate information is available at the Prepaid Calling website. Click the ‘Rates’ tab.
      • Can I monitor my Prepaid use?
        Yes. Once your account is set up, you can check your balance and call history through your online account on the Prepaid Calling website.
      • Will I receive a statement from Shaw for my Prepaid Calling?
        No. Shaw will not send you a statement for your Prepaid Calling. Instead, your credit-card statement will show charges from Gold Line, a company with which Shaw has partnered to offer this service.
      • Will I receive a warning when I’m running out of prepaid minutes?
        Yes. If you haven’t been monitoring your prepaid balance by logging into the Prepaid Calling website, you will receive an in-call warning message when you have less than five minutes left on your balance. The message will be repeated when you have one minute remaining.
      • Do I need a calling card?
        No. All you need is an access code or personal identification number (PIN), which you should have received when creating our account on the Prepaid Calling website. The PIN is required if you are making a call from any phone other than your registered phone number. If you don’t remember your PIN, please call 1.877.886.7429.

      * Shaw Home Phone includes 1000 minutes of international calling per month to 50 specified Shaw International calling destinations. Shaw International calls that exceed the 1000 minutes will be billed at the Home Phone Lite rate of $0.04-per-minute ($0.02-per-minute for China and Hong Kong). International long-distance calls to mobile/cellular/specialty numbers, including international services such as premium services, international pages services, international audio-to-text-messaging services and non-geographic or satellite phone numbers are not included in the 1000 minutes. Shaw offer and long distance-rates are subject to change without notice. Shaw services are subject to our terms of use as occasionally amended.

      ** Shaw Home Phone unlimited long-distance calling within Canada and to the U.S. is intended for residential calling only. 

      *** Shaw Home Phone Lite and Shaw Home Phone Basic $0.04-per-minute long-distance calling within Canada and to the U.S. is intended for residential calling only. Long distance calls are billed as follows: calls less than 5 seconds - not billed; calls longer than 5 seconds - rounded to 1 minute; calls longer than 1 minute - rounded to the nearest 60-second increment.
